The Coffee Gardens organization is committed to fostering equal opportunities by employing staff based on merit. Notably, 52% of their workforce, 21% of farmers, and 66% of their savings group comprise women.

Established in 2017, The Coffee Gardens aims to produce exceptional specialty coffee ethically, establishing a transparent link between coffee farmers and consumers. In the 2022 season, they revamped their washing station, relocating it to enhance capacity and boost coffee production.

The Coffee Gardens Project serves various purposes, including improving farmers’ income and livelihoods, generating rural employment, advocating for gender equality, enhancing transparency in the supply chain, promoting environmental protection, and providing farmer training in Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).

The Coffee Gardens implements diverse monetary and non-monetary incentives for farmers, such as postseason bonuses, additional income opportunities, employment prospects, tree distribution, and year-round training programs. The organization maintains transparency with partner farmers regarding buying policies and prices, issuing contracts and buying-record books to each registered farmer. Price changes are communicated through SMS, and receipts are provided for every transaction.

This micro-lot features coffee produced by 275 farmers, with 17% being women. These farmers, located on the mountain above The Coffee Gardens’ washing station, bring down the coffee cherries themselves, earning additional income. They received 51% of the FOB price.
