Introducing Sweet Valley, a collaboration between DR Wakefi eld and Cafe Granja
La Esperanza (CGLE). This coffee is a lighter and fruitier blend, featuring a combination
of Potosi farm and its neighbouring farms, including the farm that started
it all – Blanca Ligia Correa and Juan Antonio Herrera’s Cafe Granja La Esperanza.
With a total area of 74 hectares, Cafe Granja La Esperanza is one of the largest
farms in the region. The farm has a rich history, dating back to 1945 when Blanca
Ligia Correa and Juan Antonio Herrera introduced Yellow Bourbon, Red Bourbon,
and Caturra to the existing Typica varieties, creating the foundation for the farm’s
success.
The farm is also known for its experimentation, currently conducting trials with
mother/father geisha breeding and field-testing new varieties before scaling up
production. The farm’s three mechanical driers, nicknamed Tres Dragones (three
dragons), are a testament to its innovative spirit and commitment to quality.
To produce this exceptional coffee, the cherry is fermented for 15 hours at a controlled
temperature before being moved to a dehumidifi er for another 72 hours
until fully dried.
The coffee is then carefully dehulled and bagged for export, preserving its unique
characteristics and ensuring the highest quality.
